I made it!

After 4 flights and several layovers I have made it to Bali! I am now sitting on the floor of the deck outside the airport in Denpasar waiting for two more of the girls in my program. Four of us met up between JFK, Germany, and Singapore. We have already exchanged money, conquered customs, and consumed a rice plate.

BTW flight recommendation... Singapore Air was awesome. They constantly are giving you food, free television, movies, music, games, and travel advice. Not to mention the spacious seats, complimentary toothbrush, pillow, blanket, and a warm rag to wipe your face. And the flight attendant outfits are pretty awesome.

Departure

Today is the day. I woke up at 330am to shower and finish packing. We then drove 4 hours to Charlotte, it took 10 minutes to check in and now I am waiting for my flight.

My mom and dad waiting at the Charlotte Airport.

To Come: At 1:15 I fly out of Charlotte to New York. At 8:10 I leave New York for Singapore for a 22 hour flight stopping off in Germany to refuel. With a short layover in Singapore, I will then be taking the final 3 hour flight to Bali Indonesia.

The gang: I am meeting up with several of the other girls in the New York Airport. Luckily we are traveling the remainder of my trip together.

When we arrive in Bali it will be noon their time or midnight on Tuesday night (US Eastern Time). We must wait for the rest of the group and will then be driving for 3 hours to the palace. Hopefully everyone gets there on time. A nap will be needed.

To Come: a possible flight update in NYC.

For now, Good Bye America. See you in May.

20 Day Countdown

20 Days until my flight takes off and there is still so much to do. Luckily, vaccines are complete! Good thing because I was getting tired of the bruises and sore arms. Another positive is the new wardrobe. With only 50 pounds allowed in my ONE suitcase, I better love my clothing.  Also going in the suitcase is several bottles of Deet, sunscreen, medications, a long list of first aid supplies, and dry shampoo. With my friends leaving for Europe today, my excitement is rising. But for now the focus is on: overeating American food, long WARM showers, air conditioning, cuddling with my cat, and time with Family.
